FIFA 21: A Review

Comments Off on FIFA 21: A Review

EA has released FIFA 21 on October after months of teasing. To be honest 2021 has so far been a bad year for sports video games with the lukewarm reception of NBA 2K21, or the Madden NFL 21 (also from EA) disaster. The main reproach of the players against those games was their lack of originality and new content, making them feel like a 2.0 version of their 2019 opus. Let us see if FIFA 21 has avoided this trap.

Reviewing a game like FIFA 21 is a somewhat difficult task, is the game an original standalone new gameplay experience or a mere update of FIFA 20? There is no simple answer to this question, the differences between FIFA 20 and 21 are not evident but they exist. Let us take the gameplay as an example, FIFA 21 honestly feels more realistic than ever. Everything from the ambience in the stadiums to the pacing of the matches will make you feel like you are watching or controlling real-life players with their stats having an impact on the game.

In FIFA 21 the players are not equal and their position of the pitch will have more effect than ever. Players like Lionel Messi, Christiano Ronaldo or KylianMbappé (this year’s star player) will have no difficulty leaving their opponents in the dust with their dribbling ratings. Less gifted players will have to be more creative, using passes or speed in order to win duels for example. Yes, there were complaints about how easy it was to perform difficult technical moves with almost every player in the game but the issue has been fixed.

Overall, EA has improved the AI of your opponents and teammates. The attackers AI has benefited the most from the improvements; the defenders and goalkeepers are unfortunately less lucky. The first are too easily overwhelmed during attacking phases while the latter have strange reactions when facing an opponent shot. Your FIFA 21 match will often become goal festivals and newcomers will have a hard time against more seasoned players.

Concerning the game modes, the classics are back, Career, Volta, Pro Club and FUT are all back with quality of life improvements. The fan favorite Volta is better and bigger this year with more locations and other nice additions. The Career mode is more fun to play and FUT has new gameplay options that will make it more enjoyable.

If you want more fun in the game, then FUTeamGo store definitely will help you since they offer FIFA 21 coins, players and many other in-game items to make the game easier for you!
